This will NOT work with very old native Hitachi drives like 2.5 IDE DK2xxx models but you should be ok as the majority of the IBM native models will be supported except latest models (as For that you would need a very expensive PC-3000).Attachment:1.jpg [ 101.55 KiB Viewed 12010 times ]SeDiv is the cheapest alternative that i know of to work with Hitachi/IBM/HGST firmware.China HDD Union did only produce "pirated" tools for Seagate, Samsung, WD and Maxtor. There are no China HDD Union Hitachi/IBM tool. The HRT complex that was "used" or "ripped off" by China HDD Union to make WDR/SRT does have a VERY GOOD IBM tool and even a Hitachi native tool for very old DK2xxx models. HRT 3.0 have tools up till HGST latest M24 arch and HRT 5.0 UDMA does have support for ARM based as well but you will not be able to buy this tool anywhere even used.So you eirther get something like SeDiv or you invest in something more expensive like MRT Pro, PC-3000, DFL, etc ...Here you have some captures of IBM and Native Hitachi tool (HRT/HDD48) : =30&t=1226 =189&t=2150Here you have a IBM research done on M24 arch drives : =59&t=1236Attachment:1.png [ 20.26 KiB Viewed 12010 times ]Regards._________________1Q9xrDTzTddUXeJAFRn37aqh1Yr6buDCdw - (Bitcoin Donations)paypal.me/Spildit - (PayPal Donations)The HDD Oracle - Platform for OPEN research on Data Recovery.Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 2 of 2 [ 30 posts ] Go to page Previous 1, 2Main Forums home Software and hardware tools

That corresponds to 800 sectors, ie 0x320.The header for MOD 2D in the WDR screenshot confirms a size of 0x0320. Just that._________________1Q9xrDTzTddUXeJAFRn37aqh1Yr6buDCdw - (Bitcoin Donations)paypal.me/Spildit - (PayPal Donations)The HDD Oracle - Platform for OPEN research on Data Recovery.Top Spildit Post subject: Re: WDR Full X UDMA Marvel utility :Posted: December 4th, 2013, 16:08 Joined: December 19th, 2006, 8:49Posts: 10960Location: Portugal002D=SMART Log - Dump RAM002E=SMART Log - Dump RAM_________________1Q9xrDTzTddUXeJAFRn37aqh1Yr6buDCdw - (Bitcoin Donations)paypal.me/Spildit - (PayPal Donations)The HDD Oracle - Platform for OPEN research on Data Recovery.Top Spildit Post subject: Re: WDR Full X UDMA Marvel utility :Posted: December 4th, 2013, 16:12 Joined: December 19th, 2006, 8:49Posts: 10960Location: PortugalRegarding different name, maybe you have placed a compatible PCB (not native) and regen only part of the adaptives, keeping the original ROM version ?Maybe you have written to SA mod 02 ?My guess is that somehow you edited the Drive ID or MOD 02 and that is why WDR shows you that model._________________1Q9xrDTzTddUXeJAFRn37aqh1Yr6buDCdw - (Bitcoin Donations)paypal.me/Spildit - (PayPal Donations)The HDD Oracle - Platform for OPEN research on Data Recovery.Top HaQue Post subject: Re: WDR Full X UDMA Marvel utility :Posted: December 4th, 2013, 23:09 Joined: December 4th, 2012, 1:35Posts: 3779Location: Adelaide, AustraliaIt is the same discussion as backyard mechanics Vs "Profesionals at a real garge, or an IT security/Professional/Programmer/Engineer etc without a degree, or someone that does wedding Flowers from home, but doesn't work in a florist sho.Arguments for each. Some people will hire clueless people, with no initiative or foresight, no desire to do more than their job entails, etc but has a degree over someone that is wildly passionate about their "hobby""skill" or whatever you want to call it. the next hirer might choose opposite.I think these days, less work is carried out in the customers view, more is done remotely or outsourced, or just the volume of work means we dont get the luxury of knowing who is doing the work. For every person that gets warm and fuzzy about someone fixing their HDD with a PC3K, there is another prson that doesnt give 2 hoots if you got your cousin who is a black hat hacker genius to rewrite the firmware on a EEPROM and solder it to the board with fencing wire... as long as they get their data back. What all you guys are discussing is the same argument that every industry has had for years, and what I believe is a line down the middle regarding viewpoints.I like the respect on this forum both sides show to have these discussions. Many details that come out in these talks help new people, tool names, tool capabilities, industry state and what is seen as acceptable regarding the way you present yourself.Lots of people start off with the attitude that why pay for these tools when free/cracked/cheap tools work, why give in to corporate sales crap and pay for what amounts to subscription to updates and forums, why keep information from public.... Then once working their ass off for years, and realising that hey, I have this knowledge from hard work, these tools that are expensive come with benifits that is hard to put $$ value on (as BlackST alluded to.. respect, inside info, the showmanship of a pro etc).... They start to see the big picture.. I heard a good quote yesterday on liquid Matrix. To paraphrase:Quote:The freedom to express myself and conduct actions in any way I see fit extends to the tip of your nosemeaning every individual has the right to do what they want, how the want UNTIL it starts to affect ANYONE else. Once it affects anyone else the situation is changed.Sue me if I am off topic!Top michael chiklis Post subject: Re: WDR Full X UDMA Marvel utility :Posted: December 5th, 2013, 4:45 Joined: December 5th, 2011, 5:38Posts: 1511Location: ItalySpildit wrote:Regarding different name, maybe you have placed a compatible PCB (not native) and regen only part of the adaptives, keeping the original ROM version ?Maybe you have written to SA mod 02 ?My guess is that somehow you edited the Drive ID or MOD 02 and that is why WDR shows you that model. The drive is new, what i did is just FW backup.I didn't change the pcb and never played with adaptives or any mod, i didn't change the ID (only WDR shows wrong ID, Sediv and SD show correct ID)._________________My firmware database: Top Nesa Post subject: Re: WDR Full X UDMA Marvel utility :Posted: December 5th, 2013, 6:42 Joined: July 18th, 2011, 5:40Posts: 101Location: Serbiamichael chiklis wrote:The drive is new, what i did is just FW backup.I didn't change the pcb and never played with adaptives or any mod, i didn't change the ID (only WDR shows wrong ID, Sediv and SD show correct ID).fzabkar wrote:from MOD 02 (SA)WD-WCC1P0590147WDC WD2002FAEX-00DY4A009-18-2013from MOD 0D (ROM)01.01L01WDC WD2002FAEX-00MJRA0WCC1P0590147I remember my first experience with that. The drive was clicking with no SA access and with LBA=0 but DETECTED as WD5000AAKS-00C8A0. I immediately thought it was impossible because it cannot read MOD 02 but as it detects right(!) where does it finds ID? Conclusion was that it must be in the ROM because it is only readable. And yes, it was in MOD 0D.To this day I do not understand why it is important to be successfully detected when not working anyway. Given that in my case the SA was not accessible I do not know what ID was in MOD 02.In Michaels case, I'm also confused and wonder what is the purpose of difference in 0D and 02 MODs ID!Top fzabkar Post subject: Re: WDR Full X UDMA Marvel utility :Posted: December 5th, 2013, 6:57 Joined: September 8th, 2009, 18:21Posts: 14563Location: AustraliaNesa wrote:To this day I do not understand why it is important to be successfully d
