Collections
This section describes the Java Collections Framework. Here, you will learn what collections are and how they can make your job easier and programs better. You'll learn about the core elements — interfaces, implementations, aggregate operations, and algorithms — that comprise the Java Collections Framework.
Collections
Introduction tells you what collections are, and how they'll make your job easierand your programs better. You'll learn about the core elements thatcomprise the Collections Framework: interfaces, implementationsand algorithms.
When you have a debt in collections, it usually means the original creditor has sent the debt to a third-party person or agency to collect it. Credit card debt, mortgages, auto loans and student loans are a few types of debt that can be passed on to a debt collection agency.
As you can see, the Collection class allows you to chain its methods to perform fluent mapping and reducing of the underlying array. In general, collections are immutable, meaning every Collection method returns an entirely new Collection instance.
The chunkWhile method breaks the collection into multiple, smaller collections based on the evaluation of the given callback. The $chunk variable passed to the closure may be used to inspect the previous element:
Collections also provide support for "higher order messages", which are short-cuts for performing common actions on collections. The collection methods that provide higher order messages are: average, avg, contains, each, every, filter, first, flatMap, groupBy, keyBy, map, max, min, partition, reject, skipUntil, skipWhile, some, sortBy, sortByDesc, sum, takeUntil, takeWhile, and unique.
For example, imagine your application needs to process a multi-gigabyte log file while taking advantage of Laravel's collection methods to parse the logs. Instead of reading the entire file into memory at once, lazy collections may be used to keep only a small part of the file in memory at a given time:
In this case collections is defined as a sequence (i.e., array) with no additional metadata defined for each collection. You can optionally specify metadata for your collection by defining collections as a mapping (i.e., hashmap) instead of sequence, and then defining additional fields in it:
If you specify a directory to store all your collections in the same place with collections_dir: my_collections, then you will need to move your _drafts and _posts directory to my_collections/_drafts and my_collections/_posts. Note that, the name of your collections directory cannot start with an underscore (`_`).
In addition to any collections you create yourself, the posts collection is hard-coded into Jekyll. It exists whether you have a _posts directory or not. This is something to note when iterating through site.collections as you may need to filter it out.
Consists of more than 18,000 objects dating from the 1500s to the present, comprising one of the preeminent modern and contemporary design collections of any comprehensive museum in the United States.
Features over 18,000 objects by artists from over 250 Indigenous nations, encapsulating multiple artistic traditions from ancient times to the present. Collectively, these artworks comprise one of the strongest and most comprehensive collections of Indigenous art in the world.
The museum's conservation department is made up of conservators with specialties in works of art on paper, photographs, paintings, textiles, archaeological and ethnographic objects, and modern and contemporary art. Our staff cares for the collections in accordance with our expressed mission to preserve works of art for future generations.
Search results from many NCBI databases can be saved in My NCBI using the Collections feature. Citations to articles published by other authors can be stored in a collection. There is no limit to the number of collections you may store in My NCBI. In addition, collections can be made public to share with others.
Collections can be renamed, made public to share with others, saved to a plain text or CSV file (to download to MS Excel or other programs), and individual items in a collection can be deleted. To delete entire collections, see Deleting Collections.
Collections are a distribution format for Ansible content that can include playbooks, roles, modules, and plugins. You can install and use collections through a distribution server, such as Ansible Galaxy, or a Pulp 3 Galaxy server.

Explore our botanical collection of an estimated six million specimens of bryophytes, ferns, seed plants and slime moulds from around the world, along with large collections of algae, lichens and diatoms.
After you create a collection, it can be shown on your online store as a webpage with a gallery of the products that are in the collection. Your customers can then click a product image on the collection page to visit a specific product's page. You can help customers find and view collections by adding links to the collections in a menu in your store's navigation.
Automated collections are usually preferred because, after you set up the conditions, future products are added automatically. You can save a lot of time by using automated collections if you have a large selection of products or if you have seasonal or rotating inventories. For example, suppose that you run an apparel store. If you tag all your products with a seasonal tag, such as summer or fall, then all your seasonal attire can automatically be included in the matching collection.
Manual collections take more work to maintain, but can be a good choice for small or specialized collections that you intend to curate personally. For example, if you plan to hold a one-time flash sale of just a few products, then you can create a manual collection for them and set up a discount for just the products in that collection.
Use our Object Location Map to browse our online collections geographically. There are over 1,100 geocoded placenames on this map, which are clustered at higher browsing levels, and provide access to more than 92% of our objects. Zoom in and click on individual map markers to view objects associated with that specific location.
The Autry believes in prioritizing and respecting the powers of self-representation, cultural agency, integrity, and sovereignty for peoples whose cultural materials we hold. The Resources Center serves to care for and provide access to these collections through exemplary stewardship. We provide a wide range of access in order to promote research, engagement, and awareness about the histories, peoples, and cultures of the American West.
In addition, we are committed to consulting and collaborating with Native nations and Indigenous communities on the interpretation, management, access, and care of Native collections. We do so because we understand these items to be the living cultural representatives of the Native nations and Indigenous communities from which they emanate. Accordingly, instructions and directives from these communities inform the interactions that Autry staff, and subsequently researchers, have with these materials. Through consultation and collaboration, we aim to augment understanding of the knowledge, histories, and lives contained within each item.
HCRR advances scholarship, education, and public programming in the humanities by helping libraries, archives, museums, and historical organizations across the country steward important collections of books and manuscripts, photographs, sound recordings and moving images, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, art and material culture, and digital objects. The program strengthens efforts to extend the reach of such materials and make their intellectual content widely accessible. Awards also support the creation of reference resources that facilitate the use of cultural materials, from works that provide basic information quickly to tools that synthesize and codify knowledge of a subject for in-depth investigation.
Projects may address the holdings or activities of a single institution or may involve partnerships between organizations. Collaboration between humanities experts and information professionals is essential to broaden the scope of, and audiences for, proposed collections or reference resources. You should design a project that facilitates sharing, exchange, and the interoperability of humanities information and products, as well as ensures their long-term availability. Projects should expand participation in cultural heritage and promote engagement with primary sources.
